Sub woofers
Sub woofers give you the deep bass sound like thunder or the roar of trucks passing by. There are basic two different types, powered and passive. Powered are usually free standing and have a built-in amplifier. Most powered sub woofer turn on automatically when a audio signal is sensed. Passive sub-woofer can either be free standing or be flush mounted on wall. Passive sub woofers use the power from your receiver to drive these speakers. Receivers for passive sub woofers need to have plenty of power, approx. 70-100 watts per channel.
